Circular Rash may be a Fungal Infection of the Skin |
|
Dear Ask The Doctor: For the past three weeks Ive had these circular bumps on my arms, thighs, back, neck, and stomach. They don't itch very often. Some look scabby but not all of them. Some are small but some are about the size of a penny. At first I thought it was because of dry skin. That's when I started using Extra Dry Skin Lotion and Dial Antibacterial soap. That didn't seam to work. I'm a 13 year old female and I don't know what it might be. Any ideas? Dear Jahara: The images are of poor quality but it appears there is a circular pink-reddish flat rash with a central area of normal appearing skin. This type of rash and the pattern of spread you describe are commonly associated with fungal infections. If you have no other symptoms, I would try a trial of over the counter canesten 1% cream and apply it twice a day to the area. If you see improvement, continue for 1 week after the rash has disappeared. If no significant improvement is observed within 1 week, please see your doctor. If it worsens within the week, please see your doctor sooner. Please let us know on our facebook page how it turned out. Thanks.
