Positive Immunology for Herpes

Dear Ask The Doctor: I have tested positive for herpes 1 and 2.After testing the strains 1.8 and 1.9 respectively What does this mean and how can I keep flare up at bay

Dear Anthony: Testing positive of Herpes simply means you have virus in the body , you may not have symtoms at all or if they occur it may be years after exposure, you have to take medicine after you notice symtoms any eruption around genitals, itching , ulcers and sometime fever assiciated with it. What I would suggest is , if you are sexually active , to have safe sex practices to stop transmission to your partner and be aware of symtoms and report to your doctor on first signs of them , also get your partner checked for it.
