Dear Ask The Doctor: I was visually diagnosed with genital warts today. They are only inside my vagina, none on the outside. I am currently in Europe and was prescribed Veregen 10% (Green tea leaf) ointment , however on the pamphlet for the cream and on the internet it says that this ointment is not to be used inside the vagina. The doctor told me to put this on the warts inside my vagina, however the instructions says not to do this, so i am confused as to what to do. My question is, should i use this ointment inside my vagina, or is there a better method for removing intravaginal genital warts?
Dear Britney: Veregen is an herbal product made from green tea leaves. Veregen will not treat genital warts that are caused by the human papilloma virus (HPV). It also will not help in preventing the spread of anal or vaginal warts through sexual contact. Veregen is used for the treatment of external genital warts and should not be applied inside the vagina. |
