Genital Warts

Dear Ask The Doctor: Hi, my doctor told me that i have genital worts following my last pap test. I have been with the same partner for 6 or 7 years. should i draw any conclusions?

Dear Charlotte: No conclusions should be drawn when one is diagnosed with genital warts as majority of them , around, 50 percent cures spontaneously over a period of 2 years or they can be treated with agents available for local application. But patient in your age group need investigation for the cause of wart as they may be caused by sexually transmitted disease like syphillis and infection like Human pappiloma virus which has totally different method of treatment and management.
