Dear Ask The Doctor: Hello i am 19 and have been diagnosed wit genital warts i am very nervous ive been looking up information on the internet but i get mixed signals. however my doctor did tell me that the odds are that my body will fight off the virus in about a yr or two. I would like for you to clarify if this is true or not so i can stop panicing. O and my other question is that i do not smoke cigarettes but i do smoke weed and herbal incense from time to time would smoking this affect my immune system from fighting off the virus? Dear Joe: Genital Warts are caused by the human papiloma virus. This virus remains dormant in the body and while the immune systme can help in fighting it off it does not help in eliminating it completely. However there is nothing to be worried about. Smoking weed may reduce your immune system overall anwyays. All the best |
