Dear Ask The Doctor: I did not start my sexual life yet and I got an hpv infection (a wart appeared on the external vaginal opening right next to my hymen ) after swimming in a dirty swimming pool, probably with contaminated people, can this be the cause of the infection, knowing that I have a low immune system??? thanks alot doctor!!! Dear Sabrine: HPV is of different strains and the different strains cause different conditions. Warts are caused by certain strains of HPV and can to some extent be transmitted through direct contact. However it is unlikely to transmit after swimming in an infected pool. I hope this helps. |
