Dear Ask The Doctor: Should i still get the HPV needles if i already have one type of HPV?
Dear Bill: There are two types of vaccines, Gardasil that protects against four HPV types—6, 11, 16, 18, and Cervarix protects against two types of HPV viruses—types 16 and 18. The schedule for both Gardasil and Cervarix consists of three injections over a six-month period. Thus if you have completed the recommended doses, you may not need to re vaccinate as the immunity is said to last for up to 5 years.
