Unconventional Ways of Contracting STDs

Dear Ask The Doctor: Hi, I was wondering if it's possible for me to get pregnant with MAYBE some sperm on my hands..? I may have had some on my hands after giving my boyfriend a hand job and a blow job. I honestly don't think a lot had gone on my hands; I'm thinking just a little bit had, if any.. Anyway, if there had been a small amount on my hand, and 10-15 minutes later I went to the bathroom and wiped, is it possible that I could become pregnant..? I had not washed my hands before wiping.. I am only 15, and very much stressing out if I could get pregnant from this. This had happened the day before my period was over, (May 4th, period ended May 5th), and just two days ago I was slightly spotting, which worries me since I already had my period this month, and this could be a sign of pregnancy.. Also, yesterday and today, I have been feeling a bit nauseous.. I need to know if I'm stressing myself out and making myself sick, or if this is possible. I am a virgin, and his penis had come no where close to my vagina when we did this, but I'm just curious as to if I could get pregnant from wiping with maybe dry sperm on my hands.. Thank you for your help!

There is <1% chance of getting pregnant through this. There are certain barriers a sperm has to go through before it actually gets through the vagina (if at all, in your case). The mere fact that you also had your period when this happened makes it more unlikely. If the sperm did get in to your vagina (if at all), then the blood oozing out from it may have washed it off. Bear in mind though that what you did may not result into conception but it one can still contract sexually transmitted diseases that way. Next time, prepare hand wipes and wash your hands thoroughly after, if you choose to do it again. This may protect you from sexually transmitted diseases and will also keep your sanity. Vaginal spotting also happens around the time of ovulation (when an ovary releases an egg). This is most likely the cause of your spotting; it is unlikely that the spotting you are having is due to pregnancy. You should be expecting your period anytime soon if your menses are regular. If you have a regular cycle and you miss your period, that is on the 5th to 6th week after the LMP (day 1 of previous period), then it will be high time to do a home pregnancy test. It is best to do this in the morning (first morning urine upon waking up) because the urine has the highest concentration of detectable hormones during this time. I do hope this helps. Take care always.
