Don't pass it on |
|
Dear Ask The Doctor: Can yeast infections be passed on from your partner if they are sleeping with more than one person? Dear Sha: Yeast infections are a caused by a fungus called Candida albicans, usually causes vaginitis. An estimated three out of four women will have a yeast infection in their lifetimes. This tyoe of fungus is part of the natural flora. The main symptom is itching, but you may have a white, thick discharge that resembles cottage cheese. This infection is caused when internal or external factors change the normal environment of your vagina and trigger an overgrowth of a microscopic fungus. A yeast infection isn't considered a sexually transmitted disease. |
