Dear Ask The Doctor: If there is tinge of red in my semen?
Dear Brett: Blood in the semen is called hematospermia and msot often the cause is benign. Common cause include infections of the prostate, urethral strictures, or some urological procedures like a prostate biopsy and vasectomy. So if your vasectomy was recent this could explain the symptoms you are now experiencing. Hematopsermia usually resolves on its own without any specific treatment. However should it continue, seek the advise of a urologist who will first confirm that it is indeed blood in the semen and look for the cause. |
