Dear Ask The Doctor: For the past few days i have been having pain while urinating. and also have been having frequent trips to the bathroom. there is swelling redness of the vagina after sex. but not painful just itchy. i have heard from multiple people it may be a kidney infection but i also feel like it may be gonorrhea and wanted to ask a dcotor what they think before i went to a clinic Dear Sarah: Your main symtoms of concern right now are pain during urinating and increased frequency of urination which are signs of urinary infection.Gonorrhea on the other hand cause vaginal inflammation but it is associated with purulent vaginal discharge and pain during sexual activity which you donot experiance , so there is very little possibility that you have gonorrhea.If you are really concerned about the infection you can go for cervical examination which may show slight inflammation in absence of obvious symtoms and it can be definitily diagnosed by uretheral or cervical swab. |
