Dear Ask The Doctor: Hi, I am a 20 year old male and when I was 16 I had a testicular torsion, and eventually leading to a testicular atrophy. At the time of the torsion I went to the hospital had an ultra sound, and the doctor said the testicle had undone itself. I have had a testicular atrophy for a couple years now. I have never told anyone about my testicular torsion besides my ex girl friend, and I really need advice if I do need to seek medical attention?
Dear Anthony: You should seek medical attention. Testicular atrophy puts you at risk for reduced fertility! It is best to see a Urologist as he/she has specific expertise in this area. You may require surgery to remove the affected testicle and improve future chances of conceiving children. |
