Dear Ask The Doctor: I have had these very painful "spots" on my scrotum 3 times in the past. I dont believe they are spots, but that is all i can describe them as. They become quite bulbous, smooth and with no typical spot "heads". I (foolishly) decided, with the first I recieved, to squeeze it, thinking it was a normal spot. It resulted in popping and releasing what i can only describe as pus and water. unlike other spots, this resulted in a really sore and raw patch of skin where the lump had been. The lump was VERY painful to touch anyway, giving a very sharp pain when touched (even by just walking, having it brush the inside of my legs etc). I know these arent cancerous as they have disappeared and reappeared, and are only joint to the skin. Id really like to know what they are though?? Thankyou very much
Dear Jonathan: With your description, the scrotum "spots" you are having could be herpes (HSV) ulcers. The telling signs are: clear discharges, very painful and sore, recurrent. You should have it checked promptly so treatment can be started. You may also inform your sexual partner about this so the partner can have herself/himself checked too (please don't take offense). I hope this helps. |
