Severe acid refluxes |
|
Dear Ask The Doctor: My mom usually suffers severe acid refluxes. she throws up and cries of pain and it only happens at night. i'm very worried about her but i don't know what to do to relieve her pain. can anyone tell me what triggers this? how to relive her pain? will bengay work? Dear Ben: According to her medical history, she had suffered from ulcer before. I would suggest her to have an evaluation done by her PCP to rule out the possibility of another ulcer or gastritis that might need to be treated with antibiotics if H. Pylori is present and confirm the diagnosis of Gastro Esophageal Reflux disease. In the meantime I would suggest her to try over the counter anti acids such as Mylanta or Prilosec otc, it is very important for her to avoid spicy foods, alcohol, smoking, coffee and every night after dinner she would need to sit for a couple of hours before going to bed. I wish her a prompt recovery. |
