Esphagus discomfort |
|
Dear Ask The Doctor: For about 6 months or so My esphagus feels like when you swallow a pill that gets stuck and there is nothing there I do get gas with this. Is this because of the 20 pounds I have gained I am 5"8 165 lbs I never had this before sometimes I take zantac but I am not sure if I should or not this is all new to me. Dear Kelly: I understand how worried you are about your condition. According to your weight and height you are just at the borderline for overweight and certainly this should not be a cause of your esophagus discomfort. The symptoms that you have might need to be studied and evaluated with more detail by your physician due to the different conditions related to them, if you have difficulty swallowing or pain during swallowing, also the presence of heartburn or avid reflux. If you notice heartburn then I would suggest you taking Zantac, also avoid spicy foods, alcohol, coffee and chocolate until your physician rules out esophagitis or other conditions that involve acid reflux. It is very probable that your doctor would also add a medication to favor the esophageal motility or Prokinetic. I wish you a prompt recovery. |
