ACL Repaired twice in less than two Years

Dear Ask The Doctor: I had surgery 3 weeks ago for ACL and Meniscus. My question:
I had this same surgery less than 1.5 years ago on the same knee. This time the pain as well as healing seems more intense. Is it possible that I will never recover 100 % fully? Could I have issues as far as strength down the road? Also,Dr. had to remove part of muscle from left leg to replace the torn ACL could I have complications as well with this leg in the future?
Thank You
Dear Darin: If you follow your doctor directions and a good physical therapy program aimed to regain range of motion and strengthen the leg muscles, it is not likely that you have any sequels. Just keep in mind that you should not strain your knees and try to keep your weight under control as well as a healthy and consistent exercise routine. |
