Dear Ask The Doctor: I recently had a MRI on my right knee and the doctors impressions were.
-Tear of the anterior cruciate ligament with increased signal at its insertion site of the femoral condyle.
-Buckle handle tear posterior horn, lateral meniscus.
-Minimal lateral subluxation of the patella.
-Small joint effusion.
The doctor referred me to a orthapedic surgon and while i will go i want to know what all this means and what are the risks if untreated?
Dear Joshua: You have significantly injured your knee joint. You will most likely need surgery to repair the damage that has been done. IF you leave the injury as it is, you run the risk of severe chronic pain and knee instability affecting your daily activities! |
