Dear Ask The Doctor: I am having ACL surgery and was planning on becoming pregnant. Will getting pregnant shortly after surgery affect my ACL graft's healing process? Dear Claire: Pregnancy may indirectly affect your recovery from ACL graft surgery. The weight gain and hormonal changes which occur during pregnancy may hinder the healing process and increase your chances of poor outcome. I suggest you allow time to fully recover from the surgery before trying to conceive a child. |
