Neutropaenia associated with HIV disease

Dear Ask The Doctor: I am positive for 4 years in may 2010, i started meds in sept'09 truvada and isentress because my cd4 dropped below 350 and now is above 450 and im undetectable. however my WBC white blood count has steadily fallen from 6.4A to 1.2A and my neutrophils abs also same pattern from 3.81A to 1.09A is this most likely an adverse side effect to the medication or a sudden onset of leukemia or what help on cape cod

Dear John: I cannot find any evidence to suggest that Truvada a combination of two nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (Tenofovir and emtricitabine), or isentress (Raltegravir) an integrase inhibitor are linked with neutropaenia. This may be a haematological manifestation of the HIV disease itself. I would advise contacting your Infectious Disease Consultant.
