Acute Appendicitis

Dear Ask The Doctor: I think my appendix is hurting me i had called the ask a nurse and they said by the way i was describing my pain that was probably it. thing is i have no insurance i am a stay at home mom and have 2 little kids i have to wait until monday to get an appointment. will that be bad to wait? what can i expect? i heard it can rupture is that true?

Dear Laura: You haven’t actually detailed your symptoms so I cannot give you a list of possible causes. If your appendix is inflamed you should see a doctor immediately. Appendicitis is surgical emergency! If surgery is delayed your appendix could rupture which can have serious consequences. Do not delay seeing a doctor.
