Dear Ask The Doctor: Had laparoscopic appendectomy 5 days ago. original symptoms mimicked gallbladder inflammation pain which was gone after surgery but has just returned today. should i go back to er?
Dear Kim: I do understand your concern. Benefits of laparoscopic surgery is the decreased recovery time and reduced pain associated with this procedure. However, i suspect your discomfort may be related to fact that your appendix was inflamed at the time of surgery. This would account for your present discomfort despite the fact that your appendix has been removed, With time this inflammation will resolve and your pain should resolve as well. You can try taking over the counter pain medications like motrin or advil to reliever the symptoms. |
