Pus at navel after appendectomy

Dear Ask The Doctor: I just had my appendix removed 6 weeks ago all cuts healed well... all of a sudden on the edge of my bellybutton scar it looks like a white head or pus filled.. it doesnt hurt im not sick. what is it and what should i do .. or is it normal??? thanks

Dear Steven: It is not normal. I suspect that there may be an infection at this operation site. This will need to be confirmed by a physician. It can be easily treated with a course of anitbiotics.
