Treatment for atrial flutter

Dear Ask The Doctor: After eating I have symptoms of chest pressure and some atrial flutter. I eat very small portions and do not over eat. I do not have heartburn or indegestion. It feels as if someone is putting pressure on my chest over the location of my heart. The symptom only last for an hour after I have eaten and then they are gone. I do not eat fried food, mainly grains, fruits and vegetables. What could be causing the discomfort?

Dear Bryan: It is possible that atrial flutter with an elevated ventricular (heart) rate may be causing your symptoms.I would suggest that you see a cardiologist or an electrophysiologist regarding a potential ablation for the treatment of this rhythm disturbance.
