Dear Ask The Doctor: Im having pvcs now for 4 days straight and i had an ablation 2 months ago for svt. Im am going in for surgery with conscious iv sedation. Should i be worried about my pvcs?
Dear Paulina: It is important with your significant past medical history of WPW and SVT ablation, to determine the nature and frequency of the premature ventricular complexes (PVC), prior to undertaking any surgical procedure or anaesthesia. I would advise a 24 hour Holter (heart) monitor, to record the electrical trace of the heart, and capture the cardiac conduction abnormality and confirm a diagnosis of PVC’s, and follow-up with your cardiologist prior to your procedure. |
