Dear Ask The Doctor: Please help. my xray impression revealed TB arthritis. Finding: "There is noted destruction of the left femoral head with obliteration of the hip joint on this side." it's unbearable to walk and get out of bed. is the best treatment surgery or what? thank you!!!
Dear Wax: The treatment options for TB of the hip depend on how much destruction of the joint has taken place at the moment of the diagnosis, meaning that if there is not much destruction the anti TB medicine treatment may lead to a recovery of the joint, but if on the contrary, there is remarkable destruction of the joint before the anti-TB treatment is started, may lead to a painful and limited joint that might require a replacement later on. |
