Dear Ask The Doctor: My ankles are extremely clicky, and even when I am just walking you can hear them click loudly. When I walk or when it is cold my ankles hurt severely. It is always on the inside of my foot, below my ankle bone. My diet isn't very good and I have been warned by doctors about osteoporosis, so I'm not sure what's wrong.
Dear Jordan: Possibly you need an exercise program to strengthen the muscles of your legs, also are important to check if your footwear is adequate or are the cause of the problem. Try to walk at least 3 times a week for 45 minutes or 1 hour. Regarding the cold, some persons more than other are susceptible to the changes in temperature; this might be your case. But if after try all of the above you do not get any improvement I strongly recommend you to get an evaluation by a rheumatologist. |
