Small bruise now developing into a lump in the leg

Dear Ask The Doctor: Hi I have a small skin coloured bump on my upper right leg, it's about half the size of half a BB pellet and is painless, it does not give me any irritation, it started off as a small bruise with a bump but now the bruise has gone the bump is there the pharmacist said it could be solidified skin but i'm not sure, do you know what it is?

Dear Ralph: The most probable cause of the bump could be due to scar tissue that was caused due to an inflammatory reaction in the skin. The condition does not require any treatment other than to wait and watch. If the lump is growing in size or becomes tender, you may have to visit your doctor to rule out an abscess.
