Will foot blister affect shoulder surgery?

Dear Ask The Doctor: I have a small healing popped blister on my left foot,,,,i have a shoulder surgery in 3 days,,,,will it effect me having my op..... i have sat in the sun and dried it out...what else can i do

Dear Sherrie: If the blister is not infected then it should have no bearing on your shoulder surgery. An infected wound, regardless of location, may require elective surgery to be rescheduled. You should put a clean dressing on the blister daily until your appointment for surgery. You should also have the wound examined on the day of surgery to make sure it is still uninfected.
