Dear Ask The Doctor: Ok so this mornig i was getting ready to take my daughter to school. and i just put my hair straightners down and ran to kitchen to get my sons milk bottle. and from there i heard a almighty scream, and shes burnt her arm. so she obviously had the straightners. it just stayed white and wrinkly for ages , now it has a thin blister over, at first i applied some flamazine. then afterwards i applied sudacrem, what else can i do to make this heal quiker. take away the pain, avoid ifection and prevent scaring. thank you
Dear Paula: I am sorry to hear that your daughter burnt her arm. The treatment that you are currently providing your daughter is appropriate. If there is pain, you may give her tylenol. But unfortunatelt there is no process to make the healing quicker. Our body has a tremendous capacity to heal and regenerate and it will be unlikely a scar will be formed, thought this depends on the percentage of the burn and the skin thickness involved. |
