Trouble in digesting food, decreased appetite

Dear Ask The Doctor: I'm a 29 year old healthy male. For over 2 months now I have been having trouble digesting my food. I am constantly bloated, have no appetite, go pale when I eat and have bad wind, my stools are yellow and I always feel sick. I have been on omeprazole 20mg, metronidazole 400mg which seem to help a little near the end of the 7 day course but symptoms returned when the course was over, been on lansoprazole 30mg and I'm now on medium 40 mg and fybogel but nothing is working.

Dear Anthony: The cause of your indigestion could be either due to reflux disease or infection with H. Pylori. I would suggest that you see a gastroenterologist for an upper GI endoscopy and a urease breath test to rule out infection with H. Pylori. Treatment will depend on the cause. In addition i would advice you to analyze the food that you are eating and with which food product doses this reaction occur. All the best.
