Stomach bloating: Do probiotics help?

Dear Ask The Doctor: I am a 22-year old female who has struggled with bloating for years. I am OK in the morning but after each subsequent meal, I feel really bloated. I don't overeat and am conscious of what I eat. I have a peanut allergy, but that's all I am aware of. I have NEVER burped but I pass quite a bit of gas. Question: will taking probiotics or digestive enzymes help? Thank you.
Dear Debby: Bloating can occur due to intolerance to certain foods and this leads to the increased gas as well as feeling of being bloated. You can certainly take digestive exzymes as well as probiotics which will help improve the normal flora of your intestine and may help in relieving or preventing the symptoms. In addition i would advice you to analyze the food that you are eating and with which food product doses this reaction occur. All the best.. |
