Dear Ask The Doctor: My name is siva age 21 i have a problem in small area in my brain like some type of iritasion is coming from left and right side of my brain after ct scan they said that "lacunar infarct is noted in the left and the intercapsuled limb" pleasa give me some medical advice
Dear Siva: The lacunar infarcts are small (1-15 mm) infarct areas caused by occlusion of a small branch of a large cerebral artery. Most of them are treated as benign vascular lesions with a favorable long-term prognosis in young people. But if there are other factors associated as: age, vascular risks factors, diabetes, cigarette smoking, high nocturnal blood pressure, severe small vessel disease, the risk of recurrent and severe Lacunar Strokes is increased. |
