Dear Ask The Doctor: What size is a Colloidal Cyst on the brain dangerous and needs surgery immediately?
Dear Connie: There are several factors which determine if a colloid cyst should be surgically removed, not just the size. The most important factor is the severity of symptoms as well as the presence of increased intracranial pressure also help to determine the appropriate course of  management. Persons with significant symptoms and/or signs of increased intracranial pressure are deemed candidates for surgery. Those persons who have been found to have a colloid cyst but do not have any symptoms or signs of intracranial pressure may be observed at regular intervals without the need for surgery. |
