Dear Ask The Doctor: Hi, I been feeling spaced out for 9 months and don't know if I have brain damage or not,but I drank one night and it gave me bad sharp stabbing pains in the back of my head and now my vision is always spaced out and blurry all the time everyday. I scheduled an MRI to see if there is tissue damage. What could be the problem? Thanks for any help you can give me.
Dear Justin: If you have had some fall or head injury any time in the past, there could be a possibility of your symptoms being associated with brain tissue injury, hemorrhagic clot or a tumour that may have formed. There could also be a possibility of eye problems like retinal detachment, glaucoma etc. MRI examination would be best to assess any underlying cause of the brain or soft tissue injury. If MRI turns out to be normal, you may want to get your eyes examined by an ophthalmologist for any possible cause.
