Dear Ask The Doctor: I am having these symptoms for the past 2 months. I don't know if they are related or not. Can you let me know if you think its something serious? Muscle twitches all over the body. not painful-2 months night sweats recently, 1 week fatigue-1 week lower back pain-4 days bladder: don't have the urge go. 4 days Dear Shadan: Muscle twitching occurs when the nerves supplying a particular group of muscle is involuntarily activated. Most of the times these twitching are benign, but these may also be due to some underlying nervous system problem. Twitching can be caused due to caffeine, certain drugs (steroids, diuretics), exercise, stress, dietary deficiency (decrease calcium). It is important to rule out disease of the nervous system causing twitching of muscles. Due to the fact that you're having night sweats, fatigue, low back pain and bladder problem, I suggest you see your doctor to further testing. The doctor may advise blood-work for electrolytes, thyroid and calcium, nerve conduction studies or MRI of the brain or spine. |
