Dear Ask The Doctor: I found a round lump at the top of my breast. It's slightly painfull. Ive called my health district trying to make a day-in-advanced appoinment, but they only do day of appoinmens. Ive researched what it could be, finding nothing. I'm only 19 years old, so I doubt it is cancerous.any guess on what it could be? Dear Myranda: Any breast lump needs to be evaluated by your doctor, though the likelihood of the lump being cancerous is minimal. The causes of painful breast lump are : infections or abscesses, breast injury, benign breast lumps or fibroadenomas and breast cysts. I would suggest that you see your doctor for a breast examination and test to rule out the above mentioned causes of painful breast lump. |
