Dear Ask The Doctor: Hello iv got this white lump on the end of me nipple iv had it for over a year now iv never showed anyone til this week i showed my partner. As over the past week or 2 this lump seems to be getting bigger in size an it is very sore to be honest it looks like a third nipple an im getting really worried about this as iv searched on the internet an not seen anything like it. It feels like it is going to pop. I was woundering if you could shed sum light on this please. As iv been a bit in the dark about this an kept this to my self til now thank you. Dear Tammy: Presence of a breast lump needs to be examined and evaluated by your doctor to rule out breast cancer. The causes of painful breast lump are : infections or abscesses, breast injury, benign breast lumps or fibroadenomas and breast cysts. Your doctor may order an ultrasound of the breast to see for an underlying cyst or abscess and may even order a needle aspiration for microscopical study. |
