Dear Ask The Doctor: I HAD SOME LYMPH GLADS REMOVED FROM UNDER ARM LAST YEAR AS THEY WERE PERSOSDENTI HAVE SINCE HAD NIPPLE DICHARGE BURNING AND NIPPLE DIMPLING THE TEST CAME BACK OK BUT IM STILL NOT ASSURED
Dear Deborah: I do understand your concern about the possibility of breast cancer. A negative axillary lymph node does make the likelihood of having breast cancer minimal. As a doctor we do need to keep the possibility of breast cancer as a differential and regular physical check-up and self breast examination is indicated.
You have also mentioned that you are currently on citlopram (SSRI antidepresant). A side effect of this drug is breast discharge for which further evaluation is required. Other possibilites of breast discharge could include breast irritation or stimulation due to ill fitting bras or clothing, duct ectasias, thyroid disorder and intraductal papilloma. |
