The Impact of Weight Loss on Breast Size.

Dear Ask The Doctor: Hello, I have just recovered from 14 months of aggressive treatment for breast cancer in my R breast, including a lumpectomy. I am now booked for surgery to have the L breast reduced in size to match the one on which the surgery occurred. I'm wondering about size, since I'm also losing weight. My question to you is: Does breast size shrink with weight loss? This information would really help me make my decision. Thank you. Dr. Elaine Chapelle
Dear Elaine: Typically weight loss can decrease the size of the breast to some extent as the breast does contain some amount of fat tissue. However the amount lost depends on the total weight lost and there is no definite figure that is available.I hope this helps. |
