Dear Ask The Doctor: 40years old female presented to the surgical clinic with painless lump in the breast for two months .examination revealed lump 3 cm in diameter ,firm ,mobil.skin and underlying tissue not infiltrated, but single ,mobile lymph node palpated in ipsilateral axilla. -what is the most apprpriate diagnosis and mention the most helpful investigation and proper management for this case
Dear Gamal: The most likely diagnosis keeping in mind the age, symptoms as well as the description of the lump o physcial examination would be a breast cancer/carcinoma. However this is only a presumptive diagnosis and as in any case a breast lump should be thoroughly investigated through a mammography as well as a fine needle aspiration cytology and biopsy if deemed fit. The treatment would depends on the diagnosis and if it is a cancer then would depend based on the staging of the cancerous lump. I hope this helps. |
