Glass injured finger

Dear Ask The Doctor: After a bowl broke on the floor, i was cleaning it up and was stabbed quite deeply with a splinter. I immediately pulled it out and realized that now i cant bend my finger all the way. the wound is not sore at all and doesnt hurt when pressure is applied anywhere on the finger. Is it possible that i cut part of the muscle that bends the finger or could there still be part of the splinter inside causing my finger not to bend properly?

Dear Omar: Most likely you should be evaluated by your PCP or a hand surgeon to rule out a local infection that is going to need some antibiotics, which is one of the main priorities in a hand injury, after assessing the tendons and vessels integrity and function, also is very important to make sure that you do not have any other piece of glass in the wound, once that you get that performed , your doctor can determine the best treatment option for you.
