Dear Ask The Doctor: My mother is 65. Her Blood is too thin because she can barely bump into anything and she gets bright red pooling on her skin. What can she do to help the coagulation of her blood so she does not bruise so easily.
Dear Donna: I would advise that your mother attends her family doctor for a detailed history and physical examination. She may require further investigation with routine blood tests to check haemoglobin, white cell count and platelet levels. If any abnormalities are identified, she may require referral to a haematologist , a doctor who specializes in blood disorders. |
