Whats wrong with my wrist

Dear Ask The Doctor: 2 years ago i had the same problem! my wrist was swollen and it it looks like it was popping out. i went to the doctor he popped it back into place(hes old so i dont think he noticed haha) and it hurt! then i got xrays and a mri and nothing showed! now it is back again...i got it from sliding into second base during a softball game...my hand was under my leg when i slid! so is it sprained> i really dont want to go back to the doctor because if he pops it back into place its gonna hurt! help please!!!! what do i have :)(im not panicking lol) oh and when i turn it i feel slight pain * 9 minutes ago * - 4 days left to answer. Additional Details also imagine the wrist right now.......the side its swollen on is not the side where the thumb is ...its on the other side...i think the bone is called the pisiform

According to your description, most likely you had a sprain of the wrist, the healing time for such injuries varies from patient to patient, but generally requires Protection (splinting and avoidance of painful movements and activities), Rest, Ice the first 24 hours and then local heat (hot moist compresses or paraffin baths), anti inflammatory medication (i.e.: “Aleve”) so you can come back progressively to your daily routine in about 4-6 weeks. It is recommended that you keep using the wrist brace and avoid movements and activities that put additional stress on the wrist.

But if the limitation of the movements, pain, and inflammation continues you should be evaluated by hand specialist and probably you will need to get some X-rays, CT scan or MRI taken to rule out some other causes of wrist pain and limitation.
