Dear Ask The Doctor: To whom it masy concern,
this morning i was struck in the forearm by a line drive of a softball that came off of a baseball bat. I was standing maybe thirty feet away.
Before I was able to get off the field, I had a large lump where the ball struck me. When I sat on the bench my arm started pulsating. On a pain scale from one to ten, I would say the highest level was maybe a six.
After about an hour of ice, the swelling went down considerably. I had little to no pain.
As of now, i have no pain however it is extremely sore. the area is red with a white dot in the middle of it. I am able to fully rotate my wrist. But my forearm rotation is very little. What should i do what is my best option at this point?
Dear Craig: Your best option at this point is to have xrays of the forearm done to make sure no bones have been broken. You may continue to intermittently apply ice to the injured area until you are able to get those done. |
