Burn wound not Healing with antibiotics.

Dear Ask The Doctor: Burn on my arm 6 days ago .I've been treating with antibiotic ointment and tree root oil.used apple vinegar once also.still seeping yellowish fluid is it time for the ER

Dear James: Treatment of burns depend on the presentation and skin involvement. Minor skin burns may only require sterile dressing and over the counter pain medications. You have mentioned that even after applying topical antibiotics you have seen no relief. In your case it may be helpful to show the burn to a doctor for appropriate medication and wound dressing. Also burns are more susceptible to tetanus and if your last shot was more than 5 years ago then you may need to get the tetanus shot too.
