Mammogram sonogram |
|
Dear Ask The Doctor: Today, I had a mammogram, followed by a sonogram. This is my second mammogram in a week. There is a plainly visible area on the mammograms, but it could not be detected on the sonogram - should I be concerned? Dear Toni: I understand your concern about this finding in your mammogram, if it was not detected by an ultrasound, it might be because it does not contain fluid such as a cyst. Certainly if your doctor suspects of an atypical finding, the next probable step would be a biopsy to rule out the definitive diagnosis. At this time and without more information, I can’t tell you if this finding should worry you but I would suggest you to keep complying with your appointments and rule out any malignant origin. |
