Small tumor removed from bowel (bowel cancer)

Dear Ask The Doctor: This past year i had surgery to remove a tumor from my bowel area. After the tumor removal the surgeon told me to return after 1 year for a follow up appointment. The only thing that a recent check-up showed was that I had low iron levels. Just this past week the doctor asked me to come within the next month for an appointment. I am too scared to go and am very worried. What should i do? Could it be the cancer coming back?

Dear Ricardo: It is very natural for you to be worried and concerned. I think the best option for you to is see your doctor right away. There is always a way of the cancer coming back but many tests are needed by your doctor to determine that possibility. Don't be scared to see your doctor as they are all there to help you get better. Avoiding any problem makes it worse. Good luck.
