Dear Ask The Doctor: Hi and thank you for reading my question. I have a family member who was diagnosed with Lymphomia and started in his testicle which was removed and was recently diagnosed with Radial Palsy, his MRI is showing nothing and he is now appearing to show signs that his radial palsy is starting to show up on the right side as well as the left. His face appears to show signs of what one could mistake for a stroke but his symptoms seem to worsen over time and now can barely eat or speak. We are suspecting that his lymphomia has spread to behind the brain and possibly not showing up on his MRI. He has numbness in his, left hand, left side of face, mouth and also now right side of face. How can we know if it is cancer, we are certain that this must be the case, however the MRI don't show anything. How can this be diagnosed?
Dear Regina: In order to determine if the previous treated testicular problem has spread and confirm if this is the cause of the neurological symptoms, I advise that your relative, first of all, schedule an appointment with a specialist in Oncology for a comprehensive clinical, lab and imaging tests to decide what would be the most appropriate treatment option once that other conditions as High blood pressure, diabetes or a vascular disease have been ruled out. |
