Dear Ask The Doctor: Can i marry a girl who is undergoing the treatment for hodkins and what are the servival chances after chemotherapy
Dear Amina: In general, her chances of survival will depend on the stage of disease (I, II, III, etc) and what kind of chemotherapy she is having. In any stage, there is a 10 year overall survival rate in 90% of cases. Hodgkin’s is one of the few diseases with high cure rates. Those who undergo chemotherapy usually gets well from Hodgkin’s but may have serious complications from chemotherapy, not from Hodgkin’s disease itself. In some cases, if the disease will not respond to chemotherapy, bone marrow transplant and/or radiotherapy may be needed. With regards to whether or not you can marry this girl, it will be your judgment call. I do hope I have answered your question and take care always. |
