Treatment of chicken pox scars

Dear Ask The Doctor: Hello, I have three chicken pox scars on my forhead, and it does effect me, becuase i woudl liek to wear all my hair back including my fringe. But i wont do so, becuase of expossing the scars. Is there any treatment to get rid of the scras? like laser resurfacing? does it actually work? or would it leave a bigger scar?? thankyou.

Dear Hannah: I do understand your concern. Treatment of these scars will depend on their severity. Most mild scars tend to fade within 10-12 months. Severe scars may need to be evaluated by a dermatologist. Depending on the type and severity of the scars, microdermabrasion, laser treatment and grafting surgery are options available. Vitamin supplements with Vitamin E can also be used to help with scar healing.
